Founded in 1666, Lund University is one of Scandinavia's oldest universities and an integral part of the city. Today, Lund is a major centre for education, research and innovation, with a highly international academic community. The city is also home to major research infrastructures such as MAX IV Laboratory and European Spallation Source.
Lund's compact city centre makes it easy to explore on foot or by bicycle. Historic streets, cafés, restaurants and green spaces are interwoven with university buildings and modern research environments. Among the city's best-known landmarks are the 12th-century Lund Cathedral, the university area around Lundagård, and the Botanical Garden.
Lund is also well positioned for exploring the wider Öresund region. Malmö can be reached by train in around 10–15 minutes, while Copenhagen and Copenhagen Airport are easily accessible by direct train across the Öresund Bridge. This combination of history, academic tradition, innovation and accessibility makes Lund an ideal setting for AGILE - ISDE (YIF) 2027.
